The original Airwrap earned its devoted following thanks to its ability to smooth, curl, and style hair using airflow rather than extreme heat, delivering glossy results with less damage. With the Airwrap I.D., Dyson builds on that foundation by introducing smart technology that adapts to you.

At first glance, the tool looks familiar it’s still unmistakably an Airwrap, but the innovation lies beneath the surface. The Airwrap I.D. connects to the MyDyson app, where users can input details such as hair type, length, texture, styling experience, and desired results. From there, the device creates a customised curling or styling sequence, automatically adjusting wrap time, heat, airflow, and cool shot with the press of a button.

“Airwrap I.D. allows users to input information about their hair, skill level, and styling goals on the MyDyson app, and the machine intelligently creates the optimal curling sequence,” explains Robyn Coutts, senior design manager at Dyson.

In practice, this means the app guides you through how long to wrap each section, when to let it set, and crucially, when to activate the cool shot. That final step is often skipped, but it makes a real difference. Celebrity hairstylist Devin Toth notes that the cool shot helps lock in shape and longevity. “If you skip it, the style will fall quicker,” he says.

The connected experience is especially helpful for beginners or anyone who finds styling intimidating. By taking guesswork out of timing and technique, the Airwrap I.D. makes polished results more achievable at home. For seasoned professionals, the app may be less essential, but for everyday users, it offers a confidence boost built right into the tool.

Alongside the tech upgrade, Dyson is also introducing three new attachments:

• Blade Concentrator – uses high-velocity airflow to smooth hair to a sleek, refined finish

• Conical Barrel – designed to create curls and waves closer to the root

• Wave and Curl Diffuser – enhances natural texture and definition

With these additions, the Airwrap system now supports a total of 19 interchangeable attachments, making it one of the most versatile styling tools on the market.
